 Montgomery
is a growing community quietly nestled along both banks of the
Fox River in Kane and Kendall Counties, just south of Aurora
and about 40 miles west of Chicago. Founded in 1835, the Village
was named after Montgomery County, New York, by an early settler
who came from that area. That same settler, Daniel Gray, began
several businesses in Montgomery, including a grist mill that
has been beautifully restored and is listed on the National

One
of Montgomery's finest assets is the Fox River and its surrounding
park lands. The Village boasts one of the highest park-land-to-residents
ratios in the Fox Valley, with more than 13 acres of parks
per thousand population. Two park districts offer a wide
variety of recreational facilities and activities, and an
expanding network of bike trails connects Montgomery to
surrounding communities. |
 Montgomery's
residents are justifiably proud of their community, which
offers well-tended homes, tree-lined streets, and businesses
of every type. In recent years, Montgomery's population has
grown to more than 17,000, and will continue to grow due
to construction in several new subdivisions. Despite
this growth, Montgomery has maintained its warm, small-town
atmosphere as a close-knit community where neighbors care
about each other.
Montgomery
is governed by a Village President and six trustees elected
at large to staggered four-year terms. The Village Clerk is
also elected to a four-year term. Montgomery employs a full-time
professional Village Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations
of the Village, along with trained and experienced department
heads. The Village Hall is open from 8:00 - 4:30, Monday through
Friday and offers a full range of services.
