This amount of property tax is actually a PROPERTY TAX FREEZE on village taxes for existing homes in Montgomery. The increase in the notice above is due only to new businesses or homes that were not on the tax rolls last year. There was no increase in the tax rate for properties that already existed last year. This is the 5th year in a row that property taxes have been frozen for existing homes. This applies only to taxes for the Village of Montgomery, which on a $7,000 tax bill is only about $300 a year. Village officials have no control over the school districts or other taxing bodies and you may see an increase in your overall tax bill due to those taxing bodies. You can review each line item on your tax bill to see which ones go up or down.
