Police Chief Daniel C. Meyers Announces Retirement Plans

Police Chief Dan Meyers

Daniel C. Meyers, who has served as Montgomery’s Chief of Police since 2010, has announced that he will be retiring effective April 30, 2018 after a distinguished 33-year career in law enforcement.

Meyers has been with the Montgomery Police Department since February of 1985.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1988 and served as Detective Sergeant from 1999 to 2006.  In 2006, Meyers was promoted to the newly created position of Deputy Chief, which was designed to provide an additional high-level supervisory position within the Police Department.  In 2010 he was named to the top position and has served as Chief of Police for the past eight years.

Meyers expressed his appreciation for his long and rewarding career and said he leaves Montgomery with many good memories.  “I’m proud and thankful, it has been a genuine privilege and honor serving this fine community.”  Meyers said.  “It has always been my goal to provide Montgomery residents with the highest quality professional public safety services.   It’s been a gratifying career, and I’ve had the privilege of working with many outstanding officers and staff.  Although it’s a bittersweet moment, I’m looking forward to the future with enthusiasm.”
