Montgomery Fest is coming up on Saturday and Sunday, August 11th and 12th at Montgomery Park. Events will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. both days.
This will be a fun-filled weekend of carnival rides, food, a car show, parade, fishing derby, fireworks, craft booths and entertainment for young and old. New this year is a bag tournament, an ice cream eating contest, and a pizza dough tossing contest, along with the return of Shoot for the Loot and the Diaper Dash. The Diaper Dash, sponsored by Rogy’s Learning Center, will take place on Saturday morning, August 11th at 10:30 a.m. Babies must be signed in by 10:15 for this event. Babies can be 6-12 months old and must be crawlers only. The new bag tournament is also on Saturday. Sign up begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11th in front of the Village Hall and the tournament will start at 11:00 a.m. The cost is $15 per player and there is a cash prize. Montgomery Fest will see Shoot for the Loot return this year. Sponsored by Planet Fitness, it will take place on August 12th at 5:30 p.m. Two people will have a chance to shoot for a total of $5,000. For details on how to participate, visit the Planet Fitness booth at the fest.
Two new contests will take place on Sunday, August 12th at the Village Hall. Colonial Café and Ice Cream will be sponsoring an ice cream eating contest at 3:00 p.m. and Rosati’s will be sponsoring a Pizza Dough Tossing Contest that will take place on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. There is no cost to participate in either of these contests.
This year the Fest will feature more entertainment on the Main Stage than ever before! On Saturday, Montgomery Fest will feature its first “Montgomery’s Got Talent” show. Also, don’t miss Elvis (Rick Saucedo) on stage at 4:00 p.m. and Brothers of Absolution will headline Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, the stage starts rockin’ early with The Lonesome Stranglers on stage at 11:00 a.m. before the parade. At 3:00 p.m. the Penny Mae Dixon Band hits the stage playing great country hits. The night rocks out with Red Woody at 6:00 p.m., with fireworks to follow at 9:30 p.m.
As always, the carnival will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. both days, with the Petting Zoo from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. both days and free pony rides from noon until 4:00 p.m. both days. Craft and business booth hours will be 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Settler’s Cottage will be open from noon until 5:00 p.m. both days.
On Sunday, the Parade will kick off at 1:00 p.m. The annual Car Show is also on Sunday, and is held in nearby Austin Park. Registration for the Car Show participants begins at 8:00 a.m. and is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
