When developing the recipe for a successful restaurant business, Irene Vlahos know the two most important ingredients: a great menu and a great atmosphere.
How does she know so well? She owns Poor Boy’s Pub, one of the most well-known restaurants in the Village of Montgomery.
Poor Boy’s, located at 283 Montgomery Road, is home to traditional sports bar fare. Its menu includes mouth-watering appetizers like nachos, hot wings, jalapeno poppers and fried mushrooms.
Poor Boys’ entree selection includes favorites such as BLT and chicken Caesar wraps, hefty burgers and longtime top-sellers like melts and clubs.
The entire dining experience is capped off with Poor Boys’ beverage menu, which features ice cold domestic draft beer, cocktails mixed by the experienced bar staff and specials for every day of the week.
While a great menu is important, it isn’t everything.
Vlahos claims that Poor Boys’ also has a great atmosphere to go along with its food and beverages.
“We love it here, and so do our customers,” she said. “We have so many regulars who are just in here all the time.”
Vlahos and many of her customers love that Poor Boy’s is laid-back and comfortable, a place patrons can relax and chat while enjoying their food and drinks.
“It’s casual and fun at the same time,” said Vlahos.
She said she loves that everyone at Poor Boy’s Pub can expect a lively atmosphere but no one has to worry about others causing trouble.
“We’re not that kind of bar,” Vlahos said.
She emphasizes that when hungry and thirsty Montgomery’ residents and visitors are looking for a place to eat and drink, watch the game or chat, Poor Boy’s Pub is the total package.
