[ARCHIVED] Spies of the Civil War

A free presentation on “Spies of the Civil War” will be offered at the Montgomery Village Hall at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12th. Jim Weren, a local artist and researcher on the Civil War, will present this entertaining and informative program.

At the onset of the conflict, neither the North nor South was prepared to obtain the vital information it needed about its enemy. The Civil War spy had to be willing, brave and intelligent to avoid capture. Amateurs were welcome and became the core of spy systems. The study of Civil War spies and spying explores the unique personalities, spying styles and adventures of the men and women who risked their lives to serve their nation’s cause.

This program is offered by the Village of Montgomery as part of its Senior Citizen Program and is being sponsored by The Tillers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. People of all ages are welcome to attend. There is no charge and the event is handicapped accessible.
