[ARCHIVED] Sgt. Palko Honored

Sgt. Liz Palko

Springfield, IL, May 31, 2013 – Administrative Sergeant Elizabeth Palko of the Montgomery Police Department was named one of the 2013 Rising Shields of Law Enforcement by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) for her leadership in advancing the field.

Five up-and-coming leaders in various fields of law enforcement are being honored as Rising Shields, representing large and medium sized local police departments, State agencies and universities. The second annual awards will be presented Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the ILACP Annual Training Conference and Installation Banquet at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel and Conference Center Chicago-Downers Grove in Downers Grove, Illinois.

“Our goal is to recognize and support young professionals and their organizations to continue to innovate and improve best practices that enhance public safety in our communities,” said Chief Robert Porter, ILACP president and chief of the Downers Grove Police Department. The awards look to recognize officers and future law enforcement executives under the age of 45 who represent the most progressive law enforcement leaders in the state. “By honoring rising leaders in all areas of law enforcement, we hope that citizens of Illinois will better understand the significant roles they play in keeping their communities safe,” added Porter.

Administrative Sergeant Palko was nominated by Montgomery Police Department Deputy Chief Armando Sanders, for leading by example and embracing change within her department and community. “On behalf of the Montgomery Police Department, we want to take this time to thank the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police for awarding Sergeant Elizabeth Palko with the Rising Shield Award. Sergeant Palko is a very dedicated employee, who is committed to the Montgomery Police Department and is an outstanding representative of law enforcement. We are honored and excited for Sergeant Palko to receive this award,” added Montgomery Police Chief Daniel C. Meyers.
