[ARCHIVED] Jeff Zoephel Appointed as New Montgomery Village Administrator

Jeff Zoephel

Jeff Zoephel—who has been serving as the Village of Montgomery’s Acting Administrator since April 9, 2012—was officially named Village Administrator on June 6th. Prior to his appointment as Acting Administrator, Zoephel served as the Village’s Finance Director since March 12, 2001.

As the chief administrative and executive officer of the Village, Zoephel, 44, is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, coordinating, budgeting and evaluating all local government activities under the direction of the Village President and Board of Trustees. All department heads report to the Village Administrator.

“The Village Board members feel that Jeff is the most qualified person to lead our community forward and elevate our status as a premier Fox River community. He has proven his leadership abilities over the past year and is positioned to tackle the challenges facing this community immediately,” said Matt Brolley, Village President. “Jeff has earned the respect of Village employees and Board members.”

Under Zoephel’s leadership the past year, the Village performed a feasibility study for a TIF District along the Orchard Road corridor, received a $100,000 grant to update its Comprehensive Plan and decided to join KenCom for dispatch services, a move estimated to save the Village $500,000 annually. Another major accomplishment has been to secure financing and begin work on important improvements to the Boulder Hill water main system.

During Zoephel’s stint as Finance Director, the Village received the Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for nine consecutive years. He serves on the Board and the Loss Control Committee of the Municipal Insurance Cooperative Agency and the Finance Committee of Metro West Council of Government. Zoephel previously served as the Assistant Finance Director in Naperville, the Business Manager for Oswegoland Park District and the Assistant Finance Director for Romeoville. Zoephel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy from North Central College and is a Certified Public Accountant. He lives in Oswego with his wife and three daughters.

"To serve as Village Administrator for Montgomery is an exciting challenge and an honor for me," said Zoephel. "I have enjoyed working with our Village President and Board of Trustees during my tenure here and am very thankful for this new opportunity.” Zoephel added that one immediate priority will be to fill the now vacant Finance Director position.

“We are very excited to have Jeff on board as Village Administrator in a permanent capacity,” added Brolley.
