[ARCHIVED] “Women of the Civil War” – May 13th

Illustrator/presenter Jim Weren will be presenting his exciting and informative lecture entitled "Women of the Civil War" at 10:00 a.m. on May 13, 2014 at the Montgomery Village Hall.

You will learn about more than 50 women of the era – women as soldiers, doctors, lawyers, freed slaves, nurses, teachers, spies, writers, abolitionists, artists, journalists and, of course, wives and mothers. Whether on the home front performing the absent men's tasks or alongside the men on the bloody warfront, their participation in the conflict impacted its outcome and radically changed their lives and the future of women in America.

The presentation will be sponsored by Willow Home Care and The Tillers.

This program is offered by the Village of Montgomery as part of its Senior Citizen Program. There is no charge and the event is handicap accessible.

The monthly Senior Lunch and activity for ages 55 and up will begin at 11:00 a.m. after the presentation. There is a $4 charge for the lunch and pre-registration for lunch is required by May 8th. Bingo will be sponsored by The Tillers.

For additional information, please call the Montgomery Village Hall at (630) 896-8080 ext. 1559.
