[ARCHIVED] Montgomery Seniors Program May 9th

At 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9th, the Village of Montgomery will host a musical performance by Randy Walker at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 N. River Street.

Randy’s show will feature music by the “Legends of Sun Records, Elis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.  They were all at the epicenter of Rock n’ Roll at Sun Records in Memphis, TN in the mid-1950s and hung out together off and on for those year.  In addition to the music, she will share several interesting stories about how their careers intersected and how the formed our modern music.

At age 11, Walker started playing the guitar after hearing the Beatles for the first time.  He was no stranger to music before that, however, as both his parents sang in barbershop choruses and quartets.  By high school Walker was one of the top players in upstate New York playing in bands like Ripple and the popular trio Shenandoah. Most recently he was leader of the band One2Many and lead guitarist and vocalist with The Incognitos.  His show will provide a run and entertaining walk down memory lane.

The event is free and handicapped accessible.

The monthly Senior Lunch and activity for ages 55 will begin at 11:00 a.m. after the presentation.  There is a $4 cost for the lunch and pre-registration by May 2nd is required.
