[ARCHIVED] Let's Work Together to Make Montgomery Better

The Montgomery Police Department would like to thank those who attended last night's community meeting at the Village Hall and also would like to share with those who could not attend some highlights and reminders:

Crime Prevention Tips:

  • In case of emergencies, dial 9-1-1
  • Non emergency call (630) 553-055
  • Report suspicious behavior to police and do NOT take matters into your own hands
  • Lock your car doors as well as residence doors and windows
  • Close your garage door
  • Do not leave valuables in your vehicle or in plain sight
  • Trust your instincts
  • Leave your lights on at night
  • Utilize lighting, surveillance, and physical security measures to protect valuables in your home and car.
  • Facebook is NOT an official police reporting method

The meeting included reviewing recent crimes of opportunity in Montgomery as well as neighboring areas, discussing the benefits and disadvantages of social media, as well as encouraging the participation and development of stronger Neighborhood Watch Groups. We appreciate Trustee Bond's assistance with providing successful stories of the growth of his Neighborhood Watch and we look forward to the future growth of several other groups.

Sergeant Diaz and Sergeant Palko are both willing and available to meet with the individual, organized watch groups to help get things moving forward in the right direction. Please do not hesitate to reach out to them when your Neighborhood Watch group is ready to hold a meeting and discuss your action plans.

As always, the Montgomery Police Department appreciates the support of the community and we know that in unity there is strength. Let's unite to make it better and start to communicate the good ol' fashion way----get to know your neighbors and community members!
