[ARCHIVED] Village Board Brings Awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Village of Montgomery recently brought awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the October 28 board meeting. According to the proclamation that was read by Village President Matthew Brolley, “Many women still do not utilize mammography at regular intervals even though research indicates it is the best available method of detection.”

The National Cancer Institute estimates that in the United States, more than 230,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year and over 40,000 people will die. Taking advantage of early detection methods such as mammography and clinical breast exams could help the breast cancer death rate drop by approximately 30%. Brolley also commented, “I urge all women and their families to get the facts about breast cancer, support those courageously fighting breast cancer and honor the lives lost to this devastating disease.” To learn more about breast cancer and cancer treatment options visit American Cancer Society at
