[ARCHIVED] Village of Montgomery Celebrates Healthy Pet Month

PetDay_june2019 (1)

The Village of Montgomery is going to the dogs… and all other domestic friendly animals. Montgomery is bringing awareness to the newly appointed Healthy Pet Month with a series of social media posts highlighting different aspects of pet ownership during the month of April.

Passed as bill HB2086 through the Illinois General Assembly in January 2020 the bill reads, “The month of April of each year is designated as Healthy Pet Month to be observed throughout the State as a month in which all Illinois pet owners are encouraged to take time to review their pet’s health needs and make arrangements with their veterinarians to have annual exams and evaluations performed to enhance and extend their pet’s quality of life.”

The Village is encouraging pet owners to make sure to keep up with their pet’s health and wellness needs and, if choosing an animal as a pet, to make sure it fits your family’s lifestyle. And always “adopt, don’t shop” for your next family furry friend. For more information about pet needs contact local veterinaries in the area or visit Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association at www.isvma.org.
