Clean Air Counts
In 2011, the Village of Montgomery was recognized for its efforts to improve air quality in the Chicago region by the Clean Air Counts Program. Montgomery’s efforts thus far include the adoption of ordinances that promote heat island reduction through landscaping, require high efficiency outdoor lighting and ban leaf burning. The Village also implemented many energy savings features in the design of the new Village Hall.

Members’ efforts are measured against ten requirements and ranked at one of four levels: bronze, silver, gold or platinum. Montgomery was given a gold award for its efforts.

Clean Air Counts’ implementation plan will result in the reduction of polluting emissions by five tons per day and will help reduce costly public health problems caused by pollution. For more information about the program, please visit the Clean Air Counts website.
